FAR OUT IN THE FOREST

Woodcuts, photography and painting are mixed in this exhibition, where the columned hall is filled with works by four exciting Danish artists, each with extensive experience in their own field. What they have in common is observing and processing nature as a motif, and not least how we humans view nature. Meet Anette Abrahamson, Svend-Allan Sørensen, Christina Jensen and Vibeke Glarbo.

Anette Abrahamson has contributed to the renewal of painting as an expression in our time. Her works often come in series where she processes different themes.Anette Abrahamson was born in 1954 in Sweden. The artist lives and works in Copenhagen.

Svend-Allan Sørensen works primarily with graphic expressions, often in large formats, and often in a combination of image and poetry that is included in the motif in cut letters. His philosophical interest in man's (strange) relationship with nature runs like a thread through his work, which has both double meanings and humor. Svend-Allan Sørensen, who is also a hunter, was born in 1975. He currently lives and works based in East Jutland. "the hunter walks out of the forest with his rifle over his shoulder like an old habit an old path through his body he doesn't bother to explain in one hand the pheasant hangs heavy shiny warm from the evening and in the other hand a bouquet of wild flowers picked without a plan because they stood there and wanted to come along and he walks slowly like a man practicing coming home again and no one can tell if the flowers are an apology or if the pheasant is a gift or if both things are for the one he loves and doesn't know how else to say that he can both take life and carry something fragile back in the same movement like a strange prayer through the grass and dust and he hopes she will understand the difference or at least hold both things in her hands for a moment without choosing."

In the spring of 2025, Christina Jensen, together with journalist Tanja Brinks Toubro, published the book Where One Stands (Muusmanns Forlag). With her photographs, she examines the relationship between humans, nature and time. The large oak trees are the oldest trees in Danish nature, and can give us the feeling of being a small piece in the big picture. Journalist, photographer and artist Christina Jensen was born in 1982. She lives and works based in Copenhagen.

Visual artist Vibeke Glarbo has worked with many forms of expression throughout her long artistic life, including sculpture and installation. As a graphic artist, she works experimentally and explores the possibilities of different techniques and combinations. In a number of woodcuts, she has worked to depict birds. Vibeke Glarbo was born in 1946. She lives and works based in Lyngby near Copenhagen.

In connection with the exhibition Far Out in the Woods, we are visited by Cinematic Bliss – a regional development project supported by the Central Denmark Region, which works with the dissemination of artistic film experiences in new cultural contexts. Under the heading “Man’s Encounter with Nature”, three film works are presented that examine the relationship between man, landscape and nature through different visual and narrative approaches. Each film is shown continuously for five weeks in a small cinema room as an integrated part of the exhibition:
