The Lily of the Field and the Bird in the Sky - Maja Lisa Engelhardt

For almost a year, we have been presenting a unique figure in Danish art in an exhibition shaped by retrospectives and current events.

Visitors are met by a living portrait of the artist's uniqueness and efforts in several media.

The landscapes of painting as a spiritual and religious space play a crucial role in Maja Lisa Engelhardt's art, and stand as a central focus in the artist's work abroad and at home. Her great efforts, now 40 church decorations in Denmark and abroad, are documented with sketches and conveyed in, among other things, a video, where the artist is in conversation with Anders Laugesen.

Throughout the seasons, we periodically arrange monotype workshops for the public, led by Maja Lisa Engelhardt (b. 1956). With the seasons as the focal point for special events, the focus is precisely on the landscape and the changeability of nature, which is central to the artist. Throughout the year, special events will examine the landscape through the prism of the physical and cultural seasons.

Together with several other special activities, this helps to paint a vivid picture of a visual artist who is both highly experienced and who is constantly creating new works and pushing his expression towards further possibilities. The Art Center offers guided tours for groups and a special school service offer.

There are also works on paper, ceramics and sculptural works in the exhibition. Some works will be very large and have an almost installation-like character, e.g. A gate inspired by the Arch of Naxos. In total, the exhibition includes approx. 80 works. A catalogue will be published in connection with the exhibition.
